After 25 years of asking women out, I got asked out. I can get used to it.

While female beauty is something that is, male beauty is something that does.

Ergo my goals:

1. See if my weightlifting has effected a change.

2. Mention that I am writing a song for her.

3. Casually mention I am teaching myself massage, and if she inquires, hand massage.

I’ll edit this post afterwards as a bookend!

Edit/bookend completion

I was more disappointed than surprised when she cancelled with no notice.

Right then I reaffirmed to myself the habits in this thread: weights, guitar, massage.

Part of male beauty is being a good sport, so I handled explaining to the waitress that actually no, no one else was coming. The waitress was kind and we joked as I excused myself. I saw a guy at the restaurant laughing at me.

I can’t change if I am stood up, but I could decide how I will react: walking out I put my shoulders back, head up, eyes forward, and a measured walk back to my car. I’ll have better luck next time.

Very odd since she was the one that asked you out.

Thanks fellas!

Your encouragement is about the only encouragement/good luck I’ve been receiving lately.

I have more failures than successes to report, were I to be honest.

But I didn’t drink today, and I took care of my teeth, even though it exhausted me, so I guess I’ll consider myself a success for today.

You have nothing to be ashamed of, Oak, and you're already a success in my book. And I truly believe that you'll have better luck in the future. :)

Thanks river girl!

I am meeting with EAP counselors for goal setting (mostly beauty related) and nutrition. I’ll let you all know how both go.

Bad news: I have struggled with eating right and exercising due to exhaustion and lack of money and grieving.

Here is what will have to pass as good news, since I try to convince myself that I am enough, for today:

I continue to do as I promised myself regarding daily dental care.

I have come compromised every other standard, but for today I am a dental success.

You are enough, Oak. I salute your daily dental care with my middle-aged Invisalign braces-filled smile. :D

Let us know what you think of the EAP counselors!

I have a bold plan; may I bare my soul?

I would like to enter a bodybuilding competition in six months.

I have several very good reasons to consider this, which I’ll detail soon.

For now, a courage report: one of my dear fraternity brothers is an IFBB pro (something like the NFL or NBA) so just now I’ve messaged him on fakebook to invite him to lunch or dinner this week. In addition to catching up, I made explicit my interest to pick his brain about fitness. I used my words.

EEeeeeeeee!

(My sounds of squirmy courage)

A guy at work entered a statewide bodybuilding contest a year or two back. People kind of laughed at him a little, because he is always in the gym and never gets that big. He is fit but just genetically he doesn't get big. I thought it was cool though, that he could do something like that that he enjoyed and was into.
