Physiotherapy and mental health

Post by Beany Boo »

Good evening

Clinical Pilates (Pilates on machines under the guidance of a physiotherapist) is the most dramatic relief I have had from the physiological pains I suffer - pain associated with posture, stability and breathing.

Honestly, if I had the financial resources and given the choice, I would do it 3 times a week forever. The pain relief at the end of a session literally leaves me cross eyed.

I would do that if physiotherapists didn't also fully creep me out. I really struggle to consent to access to my body and someone talking about my body to me. I fear bringing up mental health issues with a physiotherapist - who is really helping me - because of the rejection or subsequent mishandling of the information.

Is there any cross over of psychology and physiotherapy, where the service provider can administer Clinical Pilates and be able to manage severe interpersonal discomfort from a qualified position?

Thank you
Mr (blue) B. Boo
